Local government for Basingstoke and Deane. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, based in Civic Offices, London Road, Basingstoke, serves a population of around 175,000. The council comprises 60 elected councillors, representing 29 wards, with around 600 officers delivering services. Councillors and officers work to improve residents’ quality of life, support those who need it, create an organisation capable of change and prepare for the controlled and sustainable growth of the borough. In 2015 the council was named as Employer of the Year at the Inspire Business Awards. It has also been recognised as one of the most financially resilient local authorities in the UK.
