More than one in four children leave primary school unable to read well. These children can struggle for the rest of their lives. Because reading isn't just about books. It's about reading a road sign, a tweet, a job application form. You could work with us to help children develop the reading skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. To become confident adults. To build a better future. Bookmark is a start-up charity with a fresh approach. Our innovative, cost-effective digital platform matches schools with safeguarded, vetted and trained volunteers in their local community. During our flexible, six-week reading programmes volunteers visit a local primary school twice a week for one-to-one, 30-minute reading sessions. They can arrange sessions at convenient times, so it's an easy way to fit volunteering around work or other commitments, and develop new skills.
