Les Sauveteurs en Mer, c'est un réseau de 7 000 hommes et femmes, bénévoles, au service d’une mission : le sauvetage des vies humaines en mer et sur les plages. 7 000 BÉNÉVOLES - 4 400 Sauveteurs Embarqués qui forment les équipages et assurent le sauvetage au large. - 1 300 Nageurs Sauveteurs détachés l’été pour assurer la sécurité des plages. - 70 salariés répartis entre le Siège, à Paris, le Pôle National de Formation à Saint-Nazaire et les ateliers d’entretien et de réparations à Saint-Malo. 3 ACTIVITÉS OPÉRATIONNELLES - Le sauvetage au large effectué par les Sauveteurs Embarqués bénévoles. - La formation et l’entraînement. - La prévention des risques liés à la pratique des loisirs nautiques. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - French Lifeguard and Lifeboat Institution (SNSM). Rescue voluntarily and for free human life from danger at sea and on the coast. 7 000 MEN AND WOMEN VOLUNTEERS - 4 400 lifeboat crew volunteers: they are coming from fishing, French navy, merchant navy and now more often from sailing background. Regular and supplementary training are optimising the high standards of qualifications of the crews. The SNSM is the only organisation dedicated to rescue at sea. - 1 300 lifeguards. They are employed and paid by councils to secure the beaches. - 70 employees divided up between the Paris office, national centre of training in Saint-Nazaire and SNSM service and repair centre in Saint-Malo. 3 OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES - Offshore rescue, carried out by the volunteer lifeboat crews launched by MRCC. - The training (done by volunteers) of the lifeguards who secure the beaches under local council responsibility. - To prevent the risks of nautical and marine activities.
